REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CAIRO -- Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto invited members of eight developing countries participating in the D-8 forum to promote economic growth to support and provide assistance to the Palestinians.
While delivering a speech in front of the leadership of the D-8 member states, the President emphasized that without unity and without overcoming differences, the D-8 group cannot be strong in the face of the geopolitical situation that is currently taking place.
“We say we support the Palestinians. But if we are weak, how can we support the Palestinians? Therefore, Your Majesty, let us take advantage of our collaboration. We must encourage economic growth,” President Prabowo said during the D-8 summit at the Presidential Palace, New Administrative Capital Cairo, Egypt, on Thursday.
The president said that the efforts to be made in boosting the economy can be done through the power of industry and technology.
In addition, Prabowo called for the D-8 group to work together to make the Muslim world a prosperous world and overcome poverty.
“Let us unite to make D-8 a catalyst for positive change to be a winner for the aspirations of the Southern World and for Muslims,” Prabowo said.
As Indonesia prepares for the future, Prabowo reaffirmed the steadfastness of commitment with this shared vision.
The president asked that the D-8 group could be a beacon of hope for all nations and the world.
Accompanying the President in the D8 Summit were Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya, Deputy Foreign Minister Arif Havas, and Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Egypt Lutfi Rauf.
