REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- PSSI General Chairman Erick Thohir presented the results of Indonesia's football transformation to FIFA President Gianni Infantino. This was reported by Erick via his Instagram account on Thursday (19/12/2024) at noon.
“Reporting to FIFA President Mr. Gianni Infantino on the progress of transforming Indonesian football that we have made throughout 2024,” Erick Thohir wrote in a narration posted along with a photo of himself with Gianni Infantino on his personal Instagram.
Erick expressed his gratitude because throughout 2024 many proud records achieved by the Indonesian national team under the tutelage of coach Shin Tae-yong. He mentioned various achievements of the team such as qualifying for the third round of the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers. The U-23 team also reached the semifinals of the Asian Cup.
In addition, Indonesia also won the AFF Putri Cup and successfully won the AFF Futsal Cup.
Erick said that four Indonesian national teams from all age categories namely U-17, U-20, U-23, and senior also made it to the final round of the Asian Cup.
The achievements of the senior team, he said, also brought Indonesia to the 135th position in the FIFA ranking.
He added that another achievement was that Indonesia won the FIFA World Cup Football Manager and the FIFA World Cup eFootball console categories.
Ercik said a number of achievements were proof of PSSI's seriousness in building Indonesian football. The achievement, however, is not apart from the great support and confidence of Gianni Infantino and FIFA in Indonesian football.
He added that in 2025 it was planned to meet Infantino and Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to discuss support for Indonesian football.
“We will continue to step up to be able to bring Garuda around the world,” Erick wrote.
