REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Central Administrator of the All-Indonesian Basketball Association (PP Perbasi) will form a National Team Body to look for diaspora players. PP Perbasi General Chairman Budisatrio Djiwandono hopes that in the next 30 days he can form the National Team Body as well as the governance structure of PP Perbasi.
“It happens that during my time as secretary general of PP Perbasi we have also begun to map and identify the Indonesian diaspora outside. I think this is part of the program of the National Team Agency, which corresponds to my words at the beginning,” Budi Djiwandono told the newspaper on Tuesday (29/10/2024) evening.
“In the next 30 days, I hope this will also be able to form a National Team Agency in the future to map out the recruitment program, look for superior diaspora seeds in other countries,” Budi added.
Budi revealed that over the next 30 days he will focus on forming the governance structure of PP Perbasi, which can work to realize its vision and mission to bring Indonesian basketball to better achievements.
In accordance with the direction of Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo on this occasion Budi Djiwandono targeted for the Indonesian basketball team boys and girls to at least be able to maintain the achievement of obtaining gold medals on the SEA Games scene.
“Earlier, Mr. Menpora reminded that the sons and daughters team had won gold medals at the SEA Games. We hope that at the next SEA Games the boys and girls teams can get gold medals again,” Budi said.
But Budi underscored the achievements that the Indonesian basketball team is trying to pursue not just stop there. Perbasi will also maximize as best he can in other tournaments of international level.
“For 3x3, we will focus on ensuring that the senior boys and girls teams can also participate in world competitions and achieve the highest achievements. That, I think, is the target from the national side, so please pray that PP Perbasi can be formed soon so that the national team program can also run,” said Budi, who has also served as Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
