REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Transmigration (Mentrans) Muhammad Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara said that the Ministry of Transmigration received a directive from President Prabowo Subianto to organize a transmigration program to Eastern Indonesia, especially Papua. The policy is to realize the equalization of the welfare of the regions in Indonesia.
“For Papua to truly become an integral part of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia in the context of its well-being, in the context of its national unity, in the larger context,” Iftitah said during the handover ceremony of the post of Minister of Transmigration at the Office of the Ministry of Villages, Development of the Backward Regions, and Transmigration (PDTT Ministry), Kalibata, South Jakarta, Monday (21/10/2024).
Under President Prabowo's direction, it seeks to build the pride of transmigrants seen as patriots of the nation. According to Iftitah, efforts to build such pride started from the environment of the Ministry of Transmigration.
“The Ministry of Transmigration as a facilitator of the nation's patriots must first build on its pride in its own ministry,” said the 1999 Adhi Makayasa Akmil laureate.
As a new ministry as a result of the development of the PDTT Ministry, Iftitah realized that many challenges faced by the Ministry of Transmigration in the future. Therefore, he stressed the importance of synergy and collaboration in carrying out the mandate not only in the internal sphere but also between ministries.
“Let us work together, synergize, and collaborate not only within the Ministry of Transmigration, but also with the Ministry of Villages and Development of the Backward Regions and other ministries,” Iftitah said.
RI President Prabowo Subianto appointed M Iftitah Sulaiman Suryanagara as Minister in the Red and White Cabinet for the period 2024-2029. Iftitah along with Minister of Rural Development and Rural Development Yandri Susanto will share the duties previously fulfilled by Abdul Halim Iskandar as Minister of Villages, Backward Regional Development, and Transmigration under the leadership of 7th President of RI Joko Widodo in 2019-2024.
Iftitah has an active background in politics by helping the Democratic Party headed by his best friend, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono. Iftitah was assisted by Viva Yoga Mauladi who was appointed by President Prabowo to be deputy minister of transmigration.
