REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Ministry of Religious Affairs (Ministry of Religious Affairs) of Indonesia hopes that the organization of Hajj will improve in the coming year. “We hope that next year more menus and seasonings will be imported directly from Indonesia so we hope that they will taste the same as those in the homeland,” Subhan Cholid said in a statement in Jakarta, Friday (11/10/2024).

This was stated in an evaluation meeting that discussed the menu of Indonesian food and raw materials. The discussion also includes the menu variations and nutrition of the food that the Hajj worshipers will consume.

Subhan called on all parties to seize the opportunity of providing Indonesian raw materials in catering for Hajj pilgrims. He reminded that the number of worshippers from Indonesia each Hajj season reaches more than 200,000 people. That has not been augmented by umrah worshippers who reach one million people a year.

“This is a great opportunity for Indonesian entrepreneurs to export raw materials of the archipelago,” he said.

In addition to the fulfillment of menus and seasonings, the Ministry of Health will also improve the fulfillment of nutritional standards by adjusting the available raw materials. The party is exploring the possibility of adding fruit, milk, and others to the menu for Hajj worshippers.

Mudir BPKH Limited Iman Ni'matullah appreciates the catering services provided by Directorate General of Hajj and Umrah Organization (PHU) of Ministry of Indonesia to worshippers. According to him, the response of worshippers to the catering service was generally positive.

“Alhamdulillah, in the application of Kawal Haji, the consumption service of 2024, there are many positive comments from worshippers. We are very appreciative of the Hajj catering team. If the menu has been prepared, then we will be able to prepare the spices that match the taste of Indonesian cuisine earlier,” Iman said.

His side is committed to fulfilling condiments, as long as the price is affordable. BPKH Limited also wants to improve the quality of Hajj services, in accordance with the mandate of Law No. 34 of 2014 on Hajj Financial Management.

The goal, he said, is to improve the quality of Hajj services, rationality and efficiency in the use of Hajj services (BPIH) costs, as well as benefits for the welfare of Muslims.

“Hopefully by April next year we'll be well prepared,” he said.
