REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Spokesperson of Prabowo Subianto, Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak said that Chairman (Ketum) of Gerindra Party Prabowo Subianto and Chairman of Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri will meet before the inauguration of RI President and Vice President of RI 2024-2029. The inauguration of President-elect Prabowo Subianto and Vice President-elect Gibran Rakabuming Raka will be held on October 20, 2024.

“Mr. Prabowo certainly invites all groups, including wanting to meet and communicate with Ms. Megawati in the near future, definitely before Mr. Prabowo is sworn in,” Dahnil said when he met after the Ormas Declaration and Inauguration of the Great Administrator of the Indonesian Morning Sun in Jakarta, Saturday (September 28, 2024).

Dahnil mentioned that Prabowo and Megawati will discuss various future agendas that will be implemented around Indonesia's development. Regarding the position of the PDIP, which is not yet known to be in or out of the government, he considers this to be another problem because Prabowo primarily wants unity.

The spirit of unity, he said, is strongly pursued continuously by Prabowo in the midst of today's dynamic global challenges, so the government must be ensured to be fine and compact. Dahnil therefore stressed that Prabowo respects each party for his decision to be in or out of his government later.

“The bottom line is that from the very beginning Mr. Prabowo wanted all groups to be able to build Indonesia together,” he said.

Earlier, PDIP DPP Chairperson Eriko Sotarduga revealed the decision to meet with president-elect Prabowo depends on the attitude of Chief General Megawati Soekarnoputri.

“Until now, I have to be honest. Until yesterday, I also talked with Bung Ronny with friends, not yet,” Eriko said in her statement in Jakarta, Thursday (26/9).

According to him, the decision to have a meeting with Prabowo was a prerogative of discretion on Megawati's part. In addition, he answered a reporter's question whether the meeting would later make the PDIP position a coalition in the Prabowo-Gibran government. Eriko insists the PDIP does not know the terminology of coalition and opposition in the context of statehood.

“Under the terms of the law there is no such thing as coalition and opposition. That's right, yes, Mr. Rony, who understands this law. There is no such thing as coalition or opposition,” Eriko said.

He also invited all parties to wait for developments related to the meeting. To be sure, says Eriko, Megawati's relationship with Prabowo is no problem.
