REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SUKABUMI -Keungan Haji Management Agency (BPKH) inaugurated the Haji Village in Gunungbatu Village, Kertaangsana Village, Nyalindung District, Sukabumi, West Java, Wednesday (14/8/2024).
Haji Village is a permanent housing aid for hundreds of Sukabumi residents affected by the landslide disaster in 2019.
On Wednesday (14/8/2024), Republika.co.id, had the opportunity to visit directly the Haji Village built by the BPKH. One of the survivors of the landslide, 80-year-old Kobtiah, appeared to be sitting alone in front of his new home. He also warmly welcomed the arrival of the BPKH group.
For the past five years, Kobtiah has only lived in temporary housing and is still living in trauma. However, now she can breathe a sigh of relief after receiving home help from BPKH.
“I am alone here, a working child in Bogor. But here it is tasty and no worries anymore,” Kobtiah said during a conversation with Republika.co.id.
Kobtiyah only lived in his new home about two months ago. He also admitted that he was often fed by his neighbors because he was no longer working. He also thanked BPKH for providing him with a home.
Another survivor, Nana (49 years old) also admitted that the sting was helped by the construction of this BPKH Haji Village. Because, his house is already flat on the ground after being hit by a landslide in 2019. During these five years, he and his family lived only in temporary habitation.
“Alhamdulillah, very helpful from BPKH as well, from DT Peduli also alhamdulillah,” said this man born in Subang.
According to him, all residents living in Kampung Haji BPKH are victims of landslide disaster. Previously, he said, survivors stayed in disaster-prone red areas.
“Some have been hit by disasters on the ground, others have been affected. It finally relocated here,” Nana said.
After living in her new home, she hopes not to be affected by the disaster again. He can now breathe a sigh of relief because in Kampung Haji is safer than his previous residence where there are frequent land shifts.
“With this help, Alhamdulillah was able to take shelter, not to be afraid anymore. If you sleep there it is really scary, like every five minutes there must be movement there (ground movement),” Nana explained.
He claimed his home in Kampung Haji was habitable. The land area measures 7x9 meters. While the building houses 5x7 meters with two bedrooms, one guest room and one toilet.
“Thank God BPKH can build this fast. Deserved this and very, very worthy,” he said.
