Erick Thohir Meets NBA Commissioner and Drinks Coffee with FIBA Secretary General

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PARIS -- Erick Thohir is making the most of his time in Paris during the 2024 Olympics with a number of important agendas. One of them, carries out his duties as a member of the FIBA Central Board. This figure who also serves as the general chairman of the PSSI shares his activities in the sport of world basketball.

“Yesterday I attended a FIBA meeting as a member of the FIBA Central Board. We discussed preparations for the basketball event for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, USA,” Erick wrote in a post on his Instagram on Saturday (10/8/2024).

Erick explained that this basketball event became one of the most watched sports at the Paris Olympics. In total, more than 1 million tickets were sold from the basketball event at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Not only a 5-on-5 game but a 3-on-3 basketball game also has great animo at this 2024 Olympics.

“After the meeting I had a photo opportunity with Adam Silver, NBA Commissioner and FIBA General Secretary Andreas Zagklis,” Erick wrote.

Without stopping there, Erick also attended the invitation to watch the men's basketball semifinal match of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. He witnessed the comeback of LeBron James et al as the U.S. team defeated Serbia in the semifinals.

The next day, Erick meets informally with Zagklis. These two basketball schools carry each other's wives. Although in a relaxed atmosphere, serious talks nevertheless took place.

“In addition to talking about the development of world basketball, we also discussed plans to open FIBA offices in Indonesia in September. Let's not forget about the success of the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup in Jakarta,” wrote this figure, who is also the Minister of SOE.
