REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Penguruan Besar Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) obtains a mine management license by the government. Related to this, PBNU promises indigenous rights-friendly and environmentally friendly mine management.
“If NU was granted concessions in the middle of the settlement, of course we would not want, or given a concession where there is a claim of access rights, of course we cannot, of course we do not want to. We must first see where the place is, where the concession is,” said Chairman of the General Manager of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU) KH Yahya Cholil Staquf during a press conference at the PBNU office on Thursday (6/6/2024).
According to this scholar known as Gus Yahya, NU pays great attention to the preservation of the environment and the welfare of the public. Thus, NU strongly supports the movements spearheaded by environmental activists.
However, according to Gus Yahya, in the fight for idealism, activists must pay attention to strategies and ways so as not to cause problems of criminalization. Moreover, NU itself clearly Gus Yahya supports idealism and moral values of environmental welfare for society in general.
Gus Yahya insists that this mine owned by Indonesia needs to be managed as best as possible. With the extraction pattern, Gus Yahya wanted the wealth to belong to the Indonesian people and be used together.
“But the parameters must meet the interests of general welfare, related to the environment. I think laws, regulations and regulations, that's not enough, usually those regulations are usually outsmarted, but if we have a national consensus this can be the basis for supervision and control going forward,” he said.
Earlier, Minister of Investment/Head of the Capital Investment Coordination Board (BKPM) Bahlil Lahadilia stated that it would immediately issue a coal management mining venture (IUP) permit for coal management to Pengembang Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), in order to optimize the role of religious organizations.
He reasoned that PBNU was granted a business license because he was proud of the largest Islamic organization in the world from Indonesia, which has contributed a lot to the development of the country.
President Joko Widodo on Thursday (30/5/2024) has signed Government Regulation (PP) 25/2024 on Amendments to PP 96/2021 on the Implementation of Mineral and Coal Mining Business (Minerba).
In Article 83A PP 25/2024 states that the new regulation permits religious community organizations (ormas) such as administering special permit areas (WIUPK).
