REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of Volunteer Anies President (Bara) Api) Indonesia, Iwan Tarigan supports the 2024 presidential election campaign, Anies Baswedan advanced as a candidate for governor (cagub) in the Jakarta 2024 presidential election. The former spokesman for the Anies-Muhaimin National Reconciliation Team (Timas AMIN) claimed he would faithfully support any political move by Anies.
“I, as the coordinator of the volunteers of Anies and former Jubir AMIN, strongly support Mr. Anies's political measures,” Iwan said in his statement on Tuesday (14/5/2024).
Iwan said that there are many chairmen of the volunteer group supporting Anies who want the former Governor of Jakarta to come forward again as a cagub. He learned that because he was tasked with coordinating 959 groups of volunteers supporting Anies.
“I'm waiting for Mr. Anies's answer. Whatever steps Mr. Anies takes, we volunteer in full support of Mr. Anies. I and 1,000 volunteer chairmen of Anies Perpendicular support Mr. Anies,” Iwan said.
Earlier, Nasdem Party opened the possibility of featuring Anies Baswedan-Ahmad Sahroni duet in Jakarta 2024 presidential election. Nasdem believes Anies has the capacity to return to lead Jakarta.
“It (the Anies-Sahroni duet) is indeed still under in-depth study by the DPP (Central Leadership Council) of the party,” said Chairman of the Regional Leadership Council (DPW) of the Nasdem Jakarta Party Wibi Andrino, quoted Friday (3/5/2024).
Anies admitted that he got an offer to become the Cagub of DKI from Nasdem Party General Chairman Surya Paloh. However, Anies has not made a decision on his next political career after losing the 2024 presidential election.
The governor of Jakarta from 2017 to 2022 has signaled that he will step forward if he gets enough support from political parties. The reason is that Nasdem Party must be in coalition with other parties in order to be able to be candidate.
“That's why we see that it takes several, not just one (political party), so we wait,” Anies told reporters on the sidelines of the 55th anniversary celebration at his residence in Lebak Bulus area, South Jakarta, on Tuesday (7/5/2024).
