REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- PT Kereta Api Indonesia (Persero) or KaL will add 28 Jabodebek LRT trips on weekdays from May 2024. The addition brings the number of Jabodebek LRT trips on weekdays to 336 trips per day.

“This is done in response to the growing needs of users,” said LRT Public Relations Manager Jabodebek Mahendro Trang Bawono in a statement on Monday (6/5/2024).

He explained that after serving more than 3.8 million users in the quarter of 2024, KaL predicts that the number of Jabodebek LRT users will continue to grow every month.

The addition of the Jabodebek LRT ride is also a strategic step by KaL to provide more comfort and flexibility to users.

“With the increase in the number of Jabodebek LRT trips, it makes the waiting time between trains or headways shorter,” Mahendro said.

With an operating pattern of 336 trips, the Jabodebek LRT waiting time is reduced to 5.5 minutes during rush hour at Cawang-Dukuh Atas crossing. Then the waiting time is only 11 minutes at Jati Mulya-Cawang and Harjamukti-Cawang intersections.

Mahendro stressed this is an improvement in the quality of Jabodebek LRT services to meet the needs of users for reliable transportation. It also encourages people to turn to mass transportation as an effort to reduce congestion and air pollution in order to support government programs.

“After conducting a thorough evaluation, we see that the trend of daily users of Jabodebek LRT every month continues to increase. This not only reflects the growing confidence of the public in our services, but is also the main reason behind the decision to increase the number of trips and improve our operating patterns,” Mahendro said.

In addition, with the addition of the number of trips, the Jabodebek LRT makes the last scheduled departure from the Upper Hamlet Station even more evening. From May 2024, the latest schedule for Jabodebek LRT departure from Dukuh Atas Station will be at 22.16 pm for Jati Mulya destination and 22.21 pm for Harjamukti destination.

KaL hopes that with the addition of this number of trips, the public's interest in using the Jabodebek LRT will also increase. This is in line with a government program that wants more and more people to switch from private transport to the Jabodebek LRT so as to reduce congestion and air pollution in the capital and surrounding areas

“We invite the whole community to take part in using mass transport as a solution to reduce congestion and feel the comfort of traveling with the Jabodebek LRT,” Mahendro said.
