PLN Supports Green Campus Program in Indonesia

PLN supports sustainable smart and green technologies in education.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- PLN Icon Plus collaborated with the University of Muhammadiyah Bogor Raya (UMBARA) through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the development of campus digitization and implementation of the Smart and Green Campus concept held on 29 April 2024 in Bogor, West Java.

This is done to support the commitment that the University of Muhammadiyah Bogor Raya (UMBARA) has made to improve the management of sustainable green campuses. PLN Icon Plus, as a subholding Beyond kWh of PT PLN (Persero) focused on providing green ecosystem infrastructure and telecommunications networks, provides support in implementing sustainable smart and green technologies in education.

With innovative infrastructure and solutions, PLN Icon Plus together with UMBARA agreed to create an educational environment and develop a better campus. In this regard, PLN Icon Plus plays a role in supporting the implementation of the Smart and Green Campus concept that integrates Technology, Information and Communication (ICT) and smart solutions to improve efficiency, comfort and security in the campus environment.

PLN Icon Plus innovations in addition to the provision of internet infrastructure, multimedia, also include the utilization of the Internet of Things (IoT), solar panels (PV), energy management systems (EMS), software, as well as the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem. In addition, PLN Icon Plus also developed PLN Mobile super-apps to improve customer service.

This initiative is in line with UMBARA's commitment to be a pioneer in global warming prevention, which is manifested in the “Smart and Green Campus” concept.

“We believe education and technology can go hand in hand in creating a greener and smarter future. PLN Icon Plus's support in this regard not only strengthens the green ecosystem infrastructure in our environment, but also enriches the student learning experience with the latest technology,” said UMBARA Rector, Edi Sukardi, on Sunday (5/5/2024).

The implementation and development of this initiative is also welcomed by the Local Government of Bogor Regency and is expected to be a major force in achieving a vision of a greener future of Indonesian education, through improving the quality of education supported by innovation and a sustainable green ecosystem.
