REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The founder of the Mustika Ratu beauty care company, Mooryati Soedibyo, passed away at the age of 96 on Wednesday at 01.00 pm. Former Indonesian Ambassador to New Zealand, Tantowi Yahya, shared the news of the bereavement in a post on his Instagram account, @tantowiyahyaofficial, on Wednesday.
“He has returned to his lap, Mrs. Dr.H.BRA. Mooryati Soedibyo on Wednesday, April 24, at 01.00 pm in the early morning at the age of 96 (January 5, 1928 - April 24, 2024). Innalillahiwainnailaihirojiun,” Tantowi wrote in an Instagram post.
“Good morning, Mother Moor. May all the charity of worship and the kindness of the mother during life ease her steps back into her lap. I testify mom is a good person who has done a lot for this nation,” he said.
Tantowi reminisces about Mooryati as a visionary businesswoman. Tantowi also said his herbal medicine has provided many benefits to public health and perfumed Indonesia's name abroad.
Mooryati is the grandson of Raja Kasunanan Surakarta Paku Bowono X who started the herbal medicine business in 1975 and founded Mustika Ratu in 1978. In its development, Mustika Ratu produces various beauty and health products that are marketed in Indonesia and other countries, including in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and the United States. Mooryati is also known as the founder of Yayasan Puteri Indonesia and the originator of the Puteri Indonesia beauty pageant, which has been held annually since 1992.
