REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MEDAN -- Visitors to the tourist attraction in Medan, North Sumatra, Tjong A Fie Mansion Museum, increased during the 2024 Lebaran holiday.

“If there are usually 15-25 people a day who visit here. But when the holidays are more crowded, it can reach 40 people per day,” said tour guide at Tjong A Fie Mansion Museum, Dicky Purba in Medan, Monday (8/4/2024).

He also made sure that Tjong A Fie Mansion Museum remains open during the 2024 Lebaran holiday. The tourist destination, which is 124 years old, operates from 09.00-17.00 WIB.

“For the ticket price there is no change, i.e. Rp 35 thousand per person,” Dicky said.

He continued, Tjong A Fie Mansion Museum is still an attraction for travelers because it holds important history regarding the figure of Tjong A Fie and Chinese culture in North Sumatra.

Therefore, Dicky called Tjong A Fie Mansion Museum not only visited by tourists from home but also abroad.

“Almost every week there are tourists from abroad who visit. There are also those from Europe especially the Netherlands,” Dicky said.

When visiting the Tjong A Fie Mansion Museum, Dicky asked visitors to abide by the rules already made at the venue, including not documenting some corners of the room with cameras. As for the places, such as the upper prayer room, the worship room to the deity and Tjong A Fie's private room.

Tjong A Fie Mansion Museum, located on Jalan Ahmad Yani, Medan, is actually the private home of the Tjong A Fie family which has been used as a museum since 2009 in memory of the services of the Chinese public figure.

The provincial government of North Sumatra predicts an increase in tourist visits to tourist attractions in its region during the Lebaran holiday 2024.

For this reason, the Department of Culture Tourism and Creative Economy (Disbudparekraf) asked the district and municipal governments in its provinces, including Medan, to prioritize the safety and security of tourists.

“We have conveyed that to the county and city governments. This is mainly for security and safety,” Sumut Provincial Disbudparekraf Chief Zumri Sulthony said.

The government set the national holiday of Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri on 10-11 April 2024. Then, there is also a sabbatical day with Eid al-Fitr 1445 Hijri on 8, 9, 12 and 15 April 2024.

The government predicts the movement of people during Lebaran 2024 will reach 193.6 million people or about 71.7 percent of Indonesia's population. This figure is an increase compared to the movement of people in Lebaran 2023, which is 123.8 million people.
