REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAJALENGKA -- The manager of West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati recorded passenger travel activity through the airport's flight facilities, up 20 percent during the return transit period of Lebaran 2024.
BIJB Executive General Manager Kertajati Nuril Huda said the highest passenger surge occurred on Saturday (6/4/2024), which amounted to 2,386 people with 16 aircraft movements.
“During the transit period Lebaran has increased compared to previous days. Starting from Wednesday (3/4/2024) it is for the peak of homecoming to occur on Saturday,” said Nuril at BIJB Kertajati Majalengka, West Java, Sunday (7/4/2024).
He said that since the homecoming transport took place until now, the number of passengers flying from BIJB Kertajati amounted to 7,386 people or an average of 1,836 passengers per day. Meanwhile, he said, on a typical day the average number of passengers in BIJB Kertajati ranges from 1,000 people to 1,300 passengers.
Nuril is optimistic that the volume of passengers at the airport can increase, as there are still many people predicted to travel from BIJB Kertajati.
“Now it's still a range of 7,000 passengers. The chances could increase,” he said.
Furthermore, he mentioned that until now the total flight activity at BIJB Kertajati touched 70 aircraft movements. If averaged, then during the homecoming stream this year there were 14 aircraft movements per day. “For his favorite routes there are three namely Denpasar, Kualanamu and Balikpapan,” he said.
Previously, the manager of BIJB Kertajati has made preparations by preparing various means and facilities for passengers on the transport to and from Lebaran 2024. This readiness has even been reviewed directly by the Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi on March 9, 2024.
