REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) Regional 3 recorded the number of seagoers departing and arriving via Tanjung Perak Port Surabaya as 65,530 people.
General Manager of Kalimas Terminal and Surya Nusantara Gapura Dhany Rachmad Agustian said the number recorded since H-15 Eid al-Fitri on March 24, 2024 to H-8 on April 3, 2024.
“The peak of the homecoming flow through the Port of Tanjung Perak Surabaya occurred on April 3, 2024 because there are 12 passenger ships from different areas leaning,” he said when confirmed in Surabaya, Thursday (4/4/2024).
Of the 12 ships that docked at the Port of Tanjung Perak on April 3, Pelindo Regional 3 recorded a total number of passengers disembarking at 12,900 people.
While on ordinary days, the average Port of Tanjung Perak Surabaya is guided by one to two passenger ships. The number of passengers boarding and disembarking is usually no more than a thousand people.
While entering the service of the homecoming stream established since H-15 or on March 24, 2024, the average passenger of seagoing ships boarding and disembarking through the Port of Tanjung Perak Surabaya is about 3,000 people.
According to the data of Pelindo Regional 3 in the period of homecoming in 2023 from H-15 to H+15 Lebaran, 209,046 passengers boarded and disembarked using sea freight through Tanjung Perak Port Surabaya.
Dhany predicts the number of passengers on the 2024 homecoming flight will increase to 20 percent or more. “We are optimistic the increase in passengers on homecoming flows this year will reach 20 percent,” he said.
Dhany explained one of his considerations as this mode of sea transport is still very affordable. “In addition, passenger luggage, which is about 40 kilograms per person, is also quite high in terms of volume compared to other modes of transport,” he said.
