BUMN Disaster Task Force Volunteers Help Bawean Post-Earthquake Recovery

A total of 10 volunteers were sent from Gresik Petrochemical to Bawean Island.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The National Disaster Task Force (Task Force) of BUMN East Java (Jatim) is recruiting volunteers to help people recover after the earthquake on Bawean Island. A total of 10 volunteers were recruited from Gresik Petrochemicals, which is the Coordinator of the National Disaster Task Force of state-owned enterprises in the Jatim region.

“The total number of volunteers that the Task Force has sent to Bawean and served for 15 days is 41 people,” said the President Director of Petrochemicals Gresik and Chairman of the National Disaster Task Force of the Jatim Region BUMN, Dwi Satriyo Annurogo in a written statement in Jakarta, Thursday (4/4/2024).

Gresik Petrochemicals along with other members of the Task Force continue to monitor the development of Bawean Island community after planning. Gresik Petrochemicals will continue to contribute to support the government so that the recovery process goes quickly and smoothly.

Dwi said that the volunteer became a real contribution of Gresik Petrochemicals along with other members of the Task Force complementing the assistance that had been sent earlier. All the aid was to help the needs of the post-tribal people in the Java Sea and around Bawean Island some time ago.

Dwi said, the delivery of aid in the first phase on March 23, 2024, includes instant noodles 50 dus, sardines 250 cans, blankets 100 pieces, mineral water 50 dus (600 milliliters packaging), pampers 300 pieces with different sizes of babies or toddlers, medicines.

“In addition, it also sends 30 pieces of tarpaulins for the needs of refugees,” Dwi said.

The second wave of aid deliveries is on March 28, 2024. Petrokemi Gresik and its subsidiaries together with other Task Force members delivered 800 kilograms (kg) of rice, 200 liters of cooking oil, instant noodles 50 cartons, mi cups 25 cartons, sardines 100 pieces, corned beef 100 pieces, UHT milk 20 cartons, and mineral water cups 50 cartons.

In addition to food materials, Dwi continued, Gresik Petrochemicals in this time also sent 100 blankets and 500 pcs of pampers. According to him, the 10 volunteers who were sent in the fourth wave came from PT Pelindo Husada Citra and PT Nusantara Sebelas Medika. Of the 10 volunteers, four were doctors, two nurses, two pharmacists, and two psychologists.

They all served on Bawean Island until 6 April 2024. “The volunteers who left will replace the duties of the volunteer friends who were previously sent on March 31 yesterday or wave three. Eight volunteers who returned were from PT Cipta Nirmala and PT Nusantara Medika Utama,” Dwi said.

Thus, according to Dwi, there are already 41 volunteers from the National Disaster Task Force of the Jatim Region BUMN who have been performing tasks since the day after the disaster. In the first and second waves there were as many as 23 volunteers from PT Petro Graha Medika to be the initial team present at the disaster site.

“These volunteers carry out a duty to contribute and provide benefits to the community. Hopefully it can help the health needs of the Bawean community, especially post-planning,” Dwi said.

He also conveyed other members of the Task Force who also sent aid to Bawean Island, namely PT Pelabuhan Indonesia III (Pelindo III), Perum Pegadaian, PT Pertamina (Persero), PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (Persero), PT Telkom (Persero), PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Branch Gresik, and PT WIKA (Persero).

Assistance provided in the form of groceries and other foodstuffs, medicines, mats, blankets, tarpaulins, pampers, pads and others. “Gresik Petrochemical together with other Task Forces also sends volunteers for relief operations, medical teams and psychologists. We adapted this to the needs in Bawean as a result of coordination with the BPBD of East Java Province and Gresik Regency,” Dwi said.
