REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- In order to welcome the holy month of Ramadan 1445 Hijriyah, the manager of Istiqlal Mosque, Central Jakarta provides 4,000 to 6,000 free takjil beds every day.
“We have improved the preparation of the committee this year. For Iftar together, 3,000 beds were prepared every Monday to Thursday last year. This year we have increased to 4,000 beds,” said Ismail Chawidu, Daily Chairman of Istiqlal Mosque Management Agency (BPMI) in Jakarta on Monday (11/3/2024).
Ismail further said that for Friday through Sunday the Istiqlal Mosque will provide 6,000 takjil beds. This number is also an increase compared to last year which provided only 4,000 takjil beds alone.
Mr Ismail said the provision of the free takjil was helped by 11 caterers. This is done in anticipation that the food remains awake and does not go stale.
“We don't have a communal kitchen. The process is assisted by 11 caterers because if we serve 4,000-6,000 beds, it is not possible to be one caterer. We also take care of the food so that it does not go stale because by 16.00 it should be ready,” Ismail explained.
For people who want to visit the Istiqlal Mosque during this month of Ramadan, Ismail appealed to come early. This is in order to anticipate the arrival of the venue in view of the large number of visitors in the holy month of Ramadan.
Later, Ismail also requested that parents be able to accompany their children while in the mosque environment, and dress neatly and politely, and not excessively.
