REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Badan Amil Zakat Nasional (BAZNAS) RI in cooperation with the Indonesian Ulama Assembly (MUI) held the Ramadan Safari prayer program 1445 AH, in collaboration with da'i from Palestine. In this Ramadan safari, Baznas targeted Rp 25 million from worshippers who gave his donations.

Deputy Chairman of Baznas RI H. Mokhamad Mahdum said that the purpose of this Ramadan safari is to make the Palestinians aware of the current conditions, as well as to take care of the issue directly from authoritative sheiks who are also of Palestinian descent.

“The purpose of this activity is twofold, to increase the intensity of concern for the Palestinians, because the Palestinian issue has not stopped. Second, for those who haven't had the opportunity to help the Palestinians either haven't heard in person or haven't been familiar with digital means. So on this day, the direct presence of Palestinian imams for Indonesians is aware and moved to help Palestinians,” said Mo Mahdum, at the MUI office, Jakarta, Sunday (103/2024).

Mo Mahdum explained that there will be 11 sheikhs from Palestine who will later give lectures at a number of points in nine provinces in Indonesia, namely in Jakarta, Riau, South Sulawesi, Banten, West Java, Central Java, South Kalimantan, Riau Islands, and West Kalimantan.

“This program works with MUI as a partner that presents and selects sheikhs. A direct message from Palestinian sheikhs is expected to move people to be able to help humanitarian victims in Palestine who are suffering due to Israeli military aggression,” said Mo Mahdum.

The head of Baznas for Gathering, Rizaludin Kurniawan, said that the 11 priests will be distributed in nine provinces. They will not be alone, there will be a team from Baznas who will help facilitate their needs in preaching, there will also be representatives from the local MUI, including their interpreters prepared.

In addition, Rizal said, Baznas hopes that in each Ramadan safari, Rp 25 million donations donated by Indonesians will be collected. The entire donation will be donated entirely to the Palestinian people, for emergency response needs, for rehabilitation, and for the reconstruction of mosques, hospitals, schools, and other public facilities.

“There will be fundraising, we hope that Rp 25 million will be collected from one mosque, so that if one day (prayers in) 3 mosques, then (will be collected) Rp 75 million. This is all for the Palestinians,” said Baznas Head of Gathering, Rizaludin Kurniawan

Rizal said that the Palestinian sheikhs will start their Ramadan safari on Monday (11/3/2024). They will serve in Indonesia for 20 days and by the evening of today, they have begun to leave for their respective places of worship.

These Palestinian Da'i include Sadeq Yasser Aqlaae who will be indicted in Riau Province, Fayez S. A. Elyaseh in Central Java, Wesam Hasan Soliman Hassan Zaurob in South Sulawesi, Ahmad Bilal Hashem Abuzaid in Banten, and Dr. Sameeh K.A. Hajjaj and Ahmad Mohamad Said Mokalaty in DKI Jakarta.
