REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDARLAMPUNG -- President Director of PT Rajawali Nusantara Indonesia (Persero) or ID FOOD Frans Marganda Tambangan
said the increase in egg prices in the market will be overcome by launching a cheap market.
“For purebred chicken eggs, there is indeed an issue of increasing prices in the market. Therefore, it is possible to make a cheap market to overcome this,” he said during a specific working visit of Commission IV of the DPR RI in Bandarlampung, Lampung, Thursday (7/3/2024).
He said the cheap market was done to maintain stability in the price of eggs on the market, especially ahead of the national religious big day. “We are ready to carry out this low-cost market activity especially for eggs, because we also contribute to the low-cost market movement carried out by the National Food Agency,” he said.
He also said in the implementation of the cheap market movement it has been set up in as many as 300 points across Indonesia. “There are already 300 points set up for low-cost market movement activities, one of which is certainly in Lampung Province. The hope is that this can again maintain the stability of food prices,” he said.
He said that in addition to eggs, there is also the possibility of cheap market activities, by adding chicken meat as a commodity to be sold because there is an increase in prices for such commodities.
“Later, in addition to eggs, chicken meat will also be one of the commodities in the cheap market. Actually efforts help chicken breeders, as well as these self-sufficient eggs not only when prices rise. When the price of eggs and chicken meat is cheap, we also become an offtaker for them by buying eggs and chicken meat at the prices set by the government,” he added.
In Pasar Rakyat Way Halim, Bandarlampung City, the price of chicken eggs reaches Rp 30 thousand-IDR 35 thousand per kilogram from the normal price of Rp 27 thousand per kilogram. Meanwhile, the price of chicken meat is sold at a price of Rp 32 thousand-IDR 35 thousand per head.
