REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — Plan of the 10th and 12th Vice Presidents Jusuf Kalla met with General Chairperson of PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) Megawati Soekarnoputri discussed Indonesia's democratic conditions after the 2024 presidential election still unrealized. JK said that at the moment Megawati is still consolidating within the party.
“Ms. Mega internal consolidation first. It is extraordinary that the major parties must be consolidated,” JK told reporters in South Jakarta on Wednesday (6/3/2024).
JK made sure Megawati completed PDIP's internal consolidation first. While waiting for that, JK said communication between the party leadership remained ongoing. Namely PDIP and the Party of Change Coalition (Nasdem Party, PKB, and PKS).
JK is known to indeed bridge communication between the two camps in the 2024 presidential election. Especially the prevalence of alleged electoral fraud that made camp 01 (Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar 'AMIN') and camp 03 (Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD) solid.
“Between the leaders of the parties the communication is good, the road. Friends who implement it, there is always smooth communication,” he said.
JK insists that in this case he is not a representative of any political party. The meeting plan with Megawati, according to the statement of the former General Chairman of the Golkar Party from 2004 to 2009, was purely on the basis of the spirit of nationality.
“I don't have a party. I am a Golkar, but not in the leadership, not in the caretaker, but only we speak in national nationality how this country, there is a responsibility as ever in government,” he said.
The 2024 presidential election is known to be unfinished. Although the number 02 Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka party is in the lead with more than 50 percent of the vote and is almost certain to win a round, the Commission has not officially announced.
As for the 01 and 03 camps to date have not conceded the victory of 02. Allegations took place of fraud or rolling election violations. The parliament is now hotly debating the issue of electoral fraud poll rights proposed by a number of parties, from the PKB, the PKS, to the PDIP.
