REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C) volunteer currently in the Gaza Strip, Palestine, Fikri Rofiul Haq said that conditions in Gaza are worse than ever because of famine. In fact, according to him, babies in Gaza die from eating unfit food.
“This has already happened, Mas, especially the people who live in northern Gaza. Algerian journalist Anas Sharif testified that they saw children dying of hunger,” Fikri said when contacted by Republika.co.id, Thursday (29/2/2024).
In addition, according to him, the Israeli offensive also incessantly attacks civilians in Gaza. According to the latest data from the Palestinian Ministry on Wednesday (27/2/2024), in the last 24 hours Gazans killed by the Israelis could reach 94 people and 100 more injured.
“And in total since October 7 there have been 29,954 dead and 70,325 injured and all the victims, the majority of them are children and women,” Fikri said.
With the worsening conditions in Gaza, he called on Indonesians, especially Muslims, to compact in boycotting Israeli products. “Boycotts are consistent in this respect, compact in terms of boycotts of Israeli products and supporters of their products,” Fikri said.
In addition, Fikri also asked Indonesian Muslims to pray for his brother in Palestine or provide material or financial support. “Muslims can also say 'Free Palestine! ' on various social media platforms,” he said.
So far, according to Fikri, all this has only been done by all Muslims in the world and more specifically in Indonesia itself. “Even more embarrassing is that many are still pro-Zionist or in their subtle language they say 'we are neutral',” Fikri said.
In fact, he continued, Israel's crimes are clearly visible in plain sight. Videos of the shooting have also spread across social media, and 130 more journalists have died since October 7.
“In the space of just five months they gave their lives to describe the situation in Gaza in real terms and facts, our healthy time in a peaceful country, even more shameful that we as followers of the Prophet Muhammad are still living, still focused on elections and so on,” he said.
“Shame, for God's sake, that we will be before Allah or the Messenger of Allah. What have we done for religion and for its brethren in the Gaza Strip?” says Fikri. When recounting the latest conditions in Gaza, Fikri admitted to being emotional. Moreover, he himself has already felt for himself the Genocide committed by Israel in Gaza.
“I am also a human being who felt this genocide for five months. We are also tired, we are also tired, we also need rest, but the fighting continues until this moment,” Fikri said.
