REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Democratic Party General Chairman Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) said he had not heard about the United Development Party's plan to join the coalition of Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
“I haven't heard that yet,” said AHY, who is also the Minister of Agrarian and Spatience/Head of the National Land Agency (ATR/BPN) at the Presidential Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday (27/2/2024).
AHY stressed that the Democratic Party as one of Prabowo-Gibran's supporting parties submitted the decision to Prabowo as coalition leader with regard to strengthening the coalition.
However, he believes Prabowo will talk to the general chairmen of the political parties that are currently in the coalition. “Of course we want to give each other input,” he explained.
According to AHY, strengthening the coalition continues to be talked about because all supporting parties and supporters want Prabowo-Gibran's government to go forward, if it wins the presidential election, is successful and has strong support from parliament.
“Because we also hope that the policies and programs that have been raised as political promises during the campaign period by the Prabowo-Gibran couple can be coordinated and succeeded together,” he said.
Earlier, Chairman of the Election Authority (Bappilu) of PPP Sandiaga Uno answered a question about the chances of his party joining the Prabowo-Gibran coalition.
Sandiaga said the PPP is currently the party supporting the government and its position is in the government. In his personal view, the PPP would be very honoured to be invited to nation-building.
“Because according to its name, the United Development Party for Indonesian unity and development should take an active part in building the nation. That's my view,” Sandiaga said in Jakarta on Monday (26/2).
Despite this, Sandi stressed that the process of determining the political direction of the PPP will be determined in the National Leadership Meeting.
