“Thank God, we in the Ministry of state-owned enterprises were able to complete the assignment given by Mr. President according to the target time. I remember in 2021, the President commissioned us to accelerate the completion of the construction of the two national strategic projects,” Erick said on Wednesday (21/2/2024).

Erick hopes that this collaboration with the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of PUPR will make Makassar New Port play an important role for the surrounding industry, as well as become the hub of eastern Indonesia. Erick expects that the history of Makassar city, which is identical to the port, will increase its growth and progress with the existence of this Makassar New Port.

“Makassar and East Indonesia's progress is determined by the port. In the history of the development of Makassar, from hundreds of years ago it was a port, therefore I hope that the inauguration of this port gives a great blessing to Makassar,” continued Erick.

Erick is optimistic that the construction of the 3.2 km long Makassar New Port Toll Road connected to the port in Makassar City can improve the competitiveness of the industrial area and reduce the cost of logistics or distribution of goods and services between regions.

Erick said the construction of the Makassar New Port Toll Road is part of the central government's national strategic project (PSN) implemented by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) through the Toll Road Business Agency.

“The land acquisition for this project was implemented by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo),” Erick said.

Erick added that Makassar New Port is an expansion of MNP Phase 1B and 1C docks with an area of 1,280 square meters. MNP was built by PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) on a total area of 52 hectares to support economic growth in the eastern region of Indonesia. MNP was built by absorbing investments worth Rp 10 trillion.
