KPU Asserts All 2024 Election Data Stored in Indonesia

According to Betty Epsilon, Sirekap system disruption occurred since February 14, 2024.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The General Election Commission (KPU) of RI claims that all data of the Election Recapitulation Information System (Sirekap) are processed and stored in Indonesia. It is in accordance with the applicable legislation.

KPU Commissioner Betty Epsilon Idroos said that all Sirekap data is processed and stored in a data center located in Indonesia. It refers to the regulations and regulations in force.

According to him, disruptions to the Sirekap system occurred since February 14, 2024. One of these is DDoS (distributed denial of service) interference.

Betty said that the Commission, together with the cyber task force team, continued to make efforts to address the disruption. In fact, that handling continues to be done to this day.

“The Commission needs support to realize an honest and fair democracy through a system of ownership information that is accessible to the public in an easy, fast, precise and accountable manner,” Betty said.

According to Betty, until now, there was no issue of delay in accessing Sirekap. The public can also save the resulting C photos in the form of images.

He added that the use of Sirekap had also gone through an assessment process by the competent agencies. The data on Form C results collected by Sirekap is public data, which has no confidentiality or personal data in it.

Betty insists that Sirekap is merely a recapitulation and publication aid. The aim is to increase public accountability for the results of the election.

“Manual recapitulation on a tiered basis remains implemented as the basis for tiered determination remains implemented as the basis of vote counting results,” Betty said.

According to him, the schedule of recapitulation and determination of the recapitulation of the results of the vote count are in accordance with the provisions. As for the schedule for the recapitulation of the PPLN on February 15-22, the districts on 15 February-2 March 2024, the districts/cities on 17 February-5 March 2024, the provinces on 19 February-10 March 2024, and the national 22 February-20 March 2024.

“The activities of recapitulation and determination of the recapitulation of the results of the vote count as intended are carried out in an open plenary meeting and can be witnessed by the general public,” Betty said.
