Jokowi: The Future of Automotive Industry is Ours

IIMS 2024 was attended by 53 vehicle brands and 187 participants from the automotive industry.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) officially opened the Indonesia International Motor Show 2024 (IIMS) with enthusiasm at JIExpo, Jakarta. “In the name of Allah Most Gracious and Merciful, I officially open the Indonesia International Motor Show 2024 auto show,” Jokowi said at IIMS 2024 at JIExpo Jakarta on Thursday (15/2/2024).

Jokowi expressed his delight at the attendance of Indonesia's largest automotive exhibition. He observed well the range of innovations on display, including significant improvements in electric cars.

“I see well. Many are on display, including electric cars,” Jokowi said.

According to him, Indonesia's automotive future has a lot to do with electric cars, given that the country has rich natural resources, such as nickel raw materials and other resources that support the development of the electric car industry.

“Yes, indeed Indonesia's automotive future lies in electric cars, given that we have natural resources, such as nickel and other commodities in support,” Jokowi said.

CEO of Kompas Gramedia, Liliek Oetama led the official opening of the Indonesia International Motor Show 2024 (IIMS 2024). This eagerly awaited annual event is not only a container to showcase the latest innovations in the automotive industry, but also a moment of reflection on the progress that has been made as a nation in developing the automotive sector.

Indonesia, as one of the potential automotive markets, continues to show positive growth in the industry. With a spirit of innovation and hard work, there has been a significant increase in vehicle production, investment in environmentally friendly technologies, as well as ever-increasing support from governments and other stakeholders.

IIMS 2024 was attended by 53 vehicle brands and 187 participants from the automotive industry, creative industries, and their supporters. The event also serves as an event for the launch and introduction of the latest products of various brands.

During the 11-day run, visitors will be treated to a variety of support programs from the automotive community and creative industries, including the IIMS Infinite Show and IIMS Infinite Live featuring a host of renowned musicians.

Liliek expressed confidence that IIMS 2024 will be an important turning point in fostering collaboration between stakeholders and mutually beneficial partnerships. He hopes the event can inspire future generations and bring Indonesia's automotive industry to a higher level.
