REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BALIKPAPAN -- RI Presidential Candidate Ganjar Pranowo stressed that election ethics violators should have shame and be responsible for their actions. Ganjar in Balikpapan City, East Kalimantan, said that ethical violations that had already occurred would be a burden on the conduct of the election.

The former governor of Central Java asked again if the issue of ethical violations had been decided, especially with a warning, what individuals who violated ethics did to this.

“There should be shame, there should be an apology. I'm not sure they dare resign, wong who in the Court just backed down, just got fired, still sued. I don't know if this country has really lost its ethics and morals. So this is a very loud warning in the democratic process,” he said.

Referring to the violation of electoral ethics, Ganjar called on the people to repent and be aware and get back on the right track.

Earlier, the Honorary Council of Election Organizers (DKPP) ruled that the Chairman of the General Election Commission (KPU) of RI Hashim Asy'ari and six other members violated the code of conduct in accepting the registration of Gibran Rakabuming Raka as a vice presidential candidate.

DKPP Chairman Heddy Lugito said that Hashim Ash'ari was sanctioned in the form of a final stern warning. In addition to Hashim, other members of KPU RI, namely Yulianto Sudrajat, August Mellaz, Betty Epsilon Idroos, Parsadaan Harahap, Idham Holik, and M Afifuddin were also sanctioned with cautions.

Hashim along with six other members of KPU RI were challenged by Demas Brian Wicaksono with case Number 135-PKE-DKPP/XII/2023, Iman Munandar B. (Number 136-PKE-DKPP/XII/2023), P.H. Hariyanto (Number 137-PKE-DKPP/XII/2023), and Rumondang Damanik (Number 141-PKE-DKPP/XII/2023), P. H. Hariyanto (Number 137-PKE-DKPP/XII/2023), and Rumondang Damanik (Number 141-PKE-DKPP/XII/2023) I/2023).

The Constitutional Court also recently came into the public spotlight after the Honorary Assembly of MK (MKMK) dismissed Anwar Usman as the Chief Justice of the Court for allegedly committing gross violations of the code of conduct of constitutional judges in the judicial review of Case No. 90/PUU-XXI/2023 on the age requirements of presidential candidates and vice presidential candidates (capres/cawapres).

Previously, the Election Commission (KPU) of RI has designated the participants in the 2024 Presidential and Vice-Presidential Election (Presidential Election), namely Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar number 1, Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka number 2, and Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud Md. sequence number 3.

The Commission has also set a campaign period from November 28, 2023 to February 10, 2024, a quiet period on February 11-13, and a voting day on February 14, 2024.
