REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- With the number reaching more than 99.6 percent of the total business operators in Indonesia, MSMEs are the backbone of the national economy. Therefore, MSMEs will continue to be encouraged to move up the class to go global with sustainable empowerment programs. This continues to be the commitment of PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk through various empowerment and capital programs for SMEs, one of which is through Rumah BUMN.

Rumah BUMN is an initiative of the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises and the SOE to empower the economy, especially MSMEs, in which they become centers of literacy and business incubation. Since it was first established in 2017, there are currently 54 Rumah BUMN owned by BRI throughout Indonesia.

From the beginning, there was a significant growth in the number of SMEs registering year by year. As of December 2023, more than 418 thousand MSMEs have registered with 12 thousand trainings. This number increased threefold compared to 2019.

Director of Micro Business BRI Supari explained that Rumah BUMN program is very effective in empowering entrepreneurs in even smaller micro segments up to ultramicro levels to grow and develop. Moreover, at present, BRI has an Ultra Micro Holding (UMi) by integrating the business processes of Pegadaian and Permodalan Nasional Madani (PNM), so as to accelerate MSMEs' goal of moving up the class.

“We have 54 SOE House points that already have more than four hundred thousand members. Programs like this we will strengthen in programs that reach even lower micro segments, or so-called ultra micro. We cooperate with PNM and Pegadaian, which are already part of Ultra Micro Holding. We will be solid and simplify and accelerate MSMEs from ultra micro to micro to become business operators facilitated by commercial loans,” Supari said, in a written statement on Wednesday (24/1/2024).

Through Rumah BUMN, MSMEs are empowered to become technologically literate through digitization and to be able to export. It is noted that out of the total registered SMEs, 49,148 MSMEs Go Digital, of which 22,648 are Go Online, and 872 MSMEs of which have gone Global.

Among the sectors built by Rumah BUMN BRI are Creative Industries such as fashion, food and beverages, accessories & beauty, home décor & craft with 89,629 MSMEs. The remaining 328,959 MSMEs come from other industrial sectors such as trade services, services, agriculture, animal husbandry, plantation, fishing, and many more.

Supari added that the Rumah BUMN program is in line with efforts to increase (graduation) MSMEs in order to achieve 90 percent financial inclusion in Indonesia in the future. Because this program emphasizes the quality of business people through literacy. A total of 2,932 basic literacy, 4,781 business literacy, and 4,519 digital literacy were recorded up to December 2023.

“Therefore, we make sure that the government initiative that targets 90 percent inclusion should happen in 2024 will definitely happen, because by 2023 Indonesia's financial inclusion already reached 87 percent. So with the existence of BRI, which is already an ultra micro holding and has a State-owned Home, it will accelerate, as well as increase literacy, which will ultimately accelerate inclusion,” Supari said.
