Bali's Ngurah Rai Airport To Be The Busiest Airport In 2023

This is a sign that people's interest in tourism is recovering.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Angkasa Pura I Company announced that Bali I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport became the airport with the largest number of passenger movements throughout 2023, with 21,454,012 movements.

“The high number of passenger movements at Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport is a sign that people's interest in tourism is recovering over time. And of course, Bali itself is still a flagship tourism destination that is increasingly in demand,” said AP I MMA Indah Preastuty President Director in Jakarta, Monday (22/1/2024).

Indah said that the number of passengers in 2023 at Ngurah Rai Airport experienced a very significant growth, namely 71 percent compared to the number of passenger movements in 2022, which amounted to 12,523,546 movements.

AP I also noted that the recovery rate or recovery rate of passenger movements in 2023 compared to the period of 2019 reached 89 percent. The number of passenger movements amounted to 21,454,012 movements, consisting of 9,918,573 domestic passenger movements and 11,535,439 international passenger movements.

The number of international outbound passenger movements to Bali in 2023 also saw an 83 percent growth spurt.

Indah said that the high number of passenger movements served during 2023 is also influenced by the high number of reactivations and openings of new routes carried out by various national and international airlines, namely 69 reactivations and openings of new domestic routes, as well as 69 reactivations and openings of new international routes.

“Throughout 2023, Bali's I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport will serve 57 flight routes, which are divided into 20 domestic routes served by 11 airlines, as well as 37 international routes served by 37 airlines,” he said.
