Jokowi asks to Continue Social Assistance Program in 2024

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) asked his entire staff to continue social assistance programs to the community. In addition, the distribution must also be monitored to be on target.

This was stated by Jokowi during a briefing at the Plenary Cabinet Meeting on Improving the Performance of the State Civil Apparatus Through Integration of Government Digital Services at Istana Negara, Jakarta, Tuesday (9/1/2024).

“Regarding bansos (social assistance program), I need to remind you that they must continue to be forwarded and also monitored to be on target, either in the form of food assistance, whether it is in the form of PKH assistance, or in the form of cash assistance everything must be ensured on target,” he said.

In his direction, Jokowi also reminded his ranks to remain wary of global geopolitical dynamics that are still fraught with uncertainty. He also asked that ahead of the elections in February, conditions inside the country should be ensured to be safe.

“And also we have to detail safeguarding the main domestic conditions ahead of the elections as well as in February,” he said.

In addition, the entire cabinet was also asked to prepare a plan for Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr in March and April 2024.

On climate change, the President still called on his staff to be vigilant about the impact that this will have on the planned growing season and harvest season.

“So the calculations regarding safe conditions, for example, our food strategy are really well calculated because it is precisely this climate change that we must calculate,” Jokowi said.
