REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR REGENCY -- Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto symbolically distributed El Nino Cash Direct Assistance (BLT) in the form of rice 10 kg to 2,200 families in Pabuaran Village, Cibinong District, Bogor Regency, West Java, Saturday (6/1/2024).
Airlangga said that the purpose of distributing the BLT is to keep the purchasing power in the community maintained amid the impact of the El Nino phenomenon. “People's purchasing power can be helped. Funds that should be used to buy rice can be diverted to buy other basic necessities so as to boost the economy,” he said.
He said that rice distributed to the public belongs to the category of good so it is safe to consume.
According to him, in addition to 10 kg of rice, the government also gives BLT of Rp 200 thousand per month, and at the same time gives Rp 400 thousand for two months. Total funds provided for BLT amounted to Rp 7.52 trillion for 18.8 million KPM.
Airlangga also plans to extend the aid program until June 2024. “This assistance is very beneficial, therefore it will be extended and expanded in areas such as Yogyakarta and in Tambora area, Jakarta,” he said. The El Nino BLT is part of the distribution of Government Rice Reserve Food Assistance (BP-CBP), which targets 22.4 million KPM. Rice is supplied by Perum Bulog and distributed by PT Pos Indonesia (Persero). The El Nino BLT is provided by the government to assist communities in the face of rising prices resulting from the long dry season.
