REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The Chairman of the Central (PP) Muslimat Nahdatul Ulama (NU) handed over the second stage of humanitarian aid to Palestine through NU Care-Lembaga Amil Zakat Infak dan Sedekah Nahdatul Ulama (LAZISNU) amounting to IDR 2,275,000,000.
Aid for the Palestinian people was handed over by PP Muslimat NU General Chairman Khofifah Indar Parawansa to LAZISNU PBNU Chairman Ali Hasan Al Bahar, on the ground floor of PBNU building in Jakarta on Wednesday night.
“We will continue to move together to provide as much assistance as possible to relieve our brothers, not only to those in Gaza but also to those in Rafah and Jordan because some have moved there, equally in need of help,” said Khofiffah, who is also the governor of East Java.
The assistance provided comes from the contributions of regional leaders, branch leaders, and the leadership of the Muslim Center of NU, as part of efforts to help people in Palestine experiencing humanitarian disasters.
He said that it was not easy to be able to ensure the aid handed over could get directly to the victims.
However, with LAZISNU's network, the aid is actually conveyed through reports received for the beneficiaries, namely the Palestinian people.
“Muslimat collectively are of the same heart and mind because it is not easy to be able to ensure assistance arrives, thank you LAZISNU,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of LAZISNU PBNU, Habib Ali Hasan Al Bahar, expressed his appreciation and pride for the help returned by Muslimat NU.
He ensured that the aid provided was immediately channeled directly into the heart of Gaza City through the relations he owned, including through the Grand Sheikh Azhar of Egypt who also owned Baitul Mal.
“Thank you very much to the entire Muslim family of NU. Until now, from the extended family of Nahdatul Ulama who provided real and well-coordinated assistance was Muslimat,” he said.
According to him, to date LAZISNU has received IDR 30 billion in aid for the Palestinian people, and IDR 3 billion of which comes from Muslim NU.
The aid that has been distributed has reached IDR 7 billion with various types of assistance through various zakat baits, including through the Government's BAZNAS.
