REPUBLICA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- In Quran Chapter al-Ahzab verse 33 Allah says, “And you must remain in your houses and do not decorate and behave like the Jahiliyids of yore. And pray, pay zakat, and obey Allah and His Apostles. Verily Allah intends to remove sin from you, O Lord of the Temple, and purify you.”

Imam Ibn Katsir explained that the meaning of the above verse means stay in your homes and do not go out without need. Among the requirements of the shar'i who allow women to leave the house is to pray in the mosque under certain conditions.

This is in line with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) saying, “Do not forbid your wives and children from Allah's mosque. But let them go out in a hijab.” Another story also says, “And their house is better for them.” However, it should be understood that the commandment in the above verse is not limited only to wives, but also applies to all Muslims.

H.R. Bukhari and Muslim stated that a Muslim woman has a great responsibility towards her household. When the male is appointed as the head of the family. A Muslim woman plays the role of leader for her family members.

“... A man is a leader for his family and he will be asked about who he leads. A woman is a leader for her husband's family members as well as his children and he will be asked about them. A slave is the leader of his master's possessions and he will be asked about the treasure. Each of you is a leader and each of you will be asked about who he leads.” (Transmitted by Bukhari 893 and Muslim 1829).

A wife is the leader who guards her husband's house. He will be asked about his guard. It is imperative for him to take good care of the house. In cooking, preparing food and drinking dishes to preparing clothes. A Muslim woman should be a mediating woman because the middle attitude is half of the livelihood. It must not go beyond the limits in what is not appropriate.

Regarding sustenance or possessions, many modern women now want to try to find for themselves. Many Muslim role models become career women and are imitated by other Muslims. Regarding this sustenance and livelihood, Allah has declared that it is the duty and responsibility of men.

In An-Nisa verse 34 God says, “The men are the leaders of the women, because God has exalted some of them (men) over the other (women), and because they (men) over others (women), and because they (men) have given away a portion of their possessions. Therefore, the righteous woman who obeys God takes care of herself when her husband is not there, because God has kept them.

Islam stipulates that each husband and wife have different duties and roles. The husband is obliged to earn a living while the wife educates the child, provides affection, and manages the existing livelihood. At home, Muslims also have a myriad of jobs that need to be done and organized.

However, if under certain conditions a Muslim woman is forced to work and earn a living, they are not prohibited from leaving home and working. However, it is necessary to observe etiquette when leaving the house in order to stay awake and avoid the existing slander.

There are many roles that Muslims can do when they are at home. He can contribute to the betterment of the people by educating his children to be a sholeh-sholehah. Taking care of the younger generation, both for religion and for the country, is not an easy task and becomes a great responsibility.

Many generations of saleh-salehah arose from the good tarbiyah performed by a Muslim woman. This happens if these children receive direct attention from their mother and mother through the intermediary of domestic assistants. Home education is a big responsibility for a Muslim woman.
