REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The National Zakat Board (Baznas) RI, in cooperation with Egyptian philanthropic agency Mishr Al-Kheir, is again sending humanitarian aid to Palestinians as many as six container trucks through Egypt's Rafah Gate. The head of Baznas RI, Saidah Sakwan, stressed the importance of the aid as a real expression of Indonesian solidarity with the Palestinian people who until now still suffer as a result of Israeli aggression.
“The aid sent today is a real action by the Indonesians to help the Palestinians, having previously sent aid in the first phase, as well as six container trucks,” Saidah said in Cairo, citing written statements on Wednesday (12/13/2023).
“Help in the form of kushari (Egyptian food), biscuits and other food ingredients. We will continue to send other aid to the Palestinians. Today Baznas RI has established cooperation with three leading philanthropic institutions in Egypt,” he said.
Saidah thanked the entire community, companies, digital platform partners, and Indonesian amil zakat institutions that actively participated in the effort.
“We thank all those involved. The aid funds come from Indonesians and are channeled through Baznas Pusat, Baznas Provinsi, Baznas District/Kota, corporate partners, LAZ, UPZ, and digital platform partners,” he said.
“This step is one of the tangible proofs of the kindness of Indonesian people and Baznas's sincerity in bringing aid to the Palestinian people in need. May this effort bring blessings and hope to them,” he added.
Mishr Al Kheir Communications Director Dr Thariq Hasan Muhammad said that Indonesian humanitarian assistance through Baznas means a lot to the Palestinian community.
“The assistance provided is a form of mutual assistance to help Indonesians to the situation of those in need. May the wars and tragedies that befall Palestine come to an end soon,” Tariq said.
Furthermore, Tariq said, the form of cooperation between Mishr Al Kheir and Baznas RI in Palestinian aid, the priority of which is currently the distribution of aid to the Palestinians in the form of food, health, and emergency items.
“We express our gratitude to the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Cairo Egypt, Baznas Indonesia, other Indonesian philanthropic institutions, and generally to the Indonesian people,” he said.
