REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Humans were created to be the most perfect creatures. The human body, composed of internal organs and external organs, is one of the signs of God's power. The Qur'an calls upon man to observe and think of the process of his creation as a sign of God's power.
For the human body holds secrets that prove the greatness of God. As He says:
We in all the regions of the earth and to themselves, until it is clear to them that the Qur'an is true. Is it not enough that your Lord is a witness to all things? (Quran Surat Fushshilat verse 53).
وَفِي أَنْفُسِكُمْ ۚ أَفَلَا تُبْصِرُونَ
Meaning: and (also) on yourself.
Then are you not paying attention? (AZ Zariyat verse 21).
Nadiah Thayyarah in Mausu'ah al I'Jaz al Qur'ani exposes a number of idiosyncrasies of the organs of the human body. The cell is the core unit that forms a living being. And in the adult human body there are about 100 trillion or more cells. These cells have a variety of shapes and functions.
For example, the heart consists of two pumps that work continuously without stopping. Within a minute, the heart beats an average of 70 times, a day it beats up to 100,000 times and pumps 8,000 to 15,000 litres of blood. If heart function is stopped for only three seconds, it results in cerebral palsy and leads to death.
While a brain weighing only 1,330 grams also has its own idiosyncrasies. The brain is made up of 100 billion neurons (nerve cells).
