REPUBLICA.CO.ID, GAZA --- The first aid shipment finally arrived in northern Gaza, although the numbers are still very limited. A convoy of UN aid trucks managed to reach two UNRWA facilities housing internally displaced people in northern Gaza, the aid being delivered in the form of bread flour.

Algerian reporter Tareq Abu Azzoum, who reported on the situation on the ground, said this was the first delivery of aid to shelters in the north in more than a month, OCHA (UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) said in a report on Friday (24/11/2023).

Three aid trucks also arrived Friday in northern Gaza, the first aid shipment to the north since October 7, according to local sources quoted by the Anadolu news agency.

“Three trucks loaded with humanitarian aid arrived in Gaza City and northern Gaza on Friday afternoon,” the source said.

Further until Saturday (25/11/2023), a number of humanitarian aid trucks continued to be sent to the northern Gaza Strip [by the UN] to be distributed to the people trapped there.

It was the first time humanitarian aid could be sent to the north of the Gaza Strip because the Israeli occupation does not allow the United Nations or other international organizations to distribute humanitarian aid to this area which is considered a battle zone for Israeli forces.

These people have run out of food and water and even hospitals in northern Gaza have received no medical aid during weeks of fighting. The UN is distributing this aid to people sheltering inside schools and they are trying to guarantee that everyone in the northern part will have access to humanitarian aid.

Although several trucks of aid have entered northern Gaza, the number of incoming and needed aid is estimated to be very low. There are still many basic needs to be met by residents of North Gaza after more than 46 days of cutting off access to food and clean water.
