It was a part of 10th Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF) Year 2023 held at Jakarta Convention Center (JCC).

“This second time IN2MF is pretty amazing in exhibit resources we have. Both from the type of fashion product, fabric, to the numbers of designer. We are optimistic that this cooperation brings modest Indonesian fashion to the world class for sure,” Teten said in an official statement, Friday (27/10/2023).

Teten said that the potential of the world's modest fashion industry is projected to reach 37 million U.S. dollars by 2025. Its average growth is six percent each year.

The current top five producer of countries for modest fashion are China, India, Turkey, Italy, and Vietnam. They make market share of 76 percent worldwide.

Meanwhile, according to data from the Central Statistical Agency (BPS), Indonesia ranked 13th in the world for modest fashion exports in 2021 worth 4.68 billion US dollars. “Indonesia has global competitiveness that is very much to be reckoned with. There is no need to worry about product competitors coming from outside. Modest fashion is not a mass product, but custom so that it has the uniqueness of each design,” said Teten,

Teten added that in order to support Indonesia's acceleration as the world's modest fashion center, there needs to be a collaborative national movement through the Modest Fashion Month Declaration, which is an effort to increase the exposure of Indonesia's modest fashion industry. This is at the same time the cornerstone of all parties in giving full support to the initiative.

In an effort to strengthen and encourage this initiative, Kemenkop UKM together with BI produced the first modest fashion reality show in Indonesia and in the world called IN2THENEXT. The initiative is supported by the Ministry of Commerce (Kemendag), the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin), the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (Kemenparekraf), and the Indonesian Fashion Chamber (IFC).

“We strongly support the success of IN2MF. I hope that this initiative can realize Indonesia as the world's modest fashion center,” he said.

BI Governor Perry Warjiyo appreciated the organization of IN2MF in this second year. Last year, IN2MF was noted to have successfully organized, even assembled fashion shows in London, Dubai, Beijing, and Paris.

“Modest fashion is great. The IN2MF initiative at ISEF has one goal: to make modest Indonesian fashion the best in the world. Thanks to MSMEs who become MSMEs on a global scale,” Perry said.
