REPUBLICA.CO.ID, GAZA -- Before the bombing on Tuesday (17/10/2023) night, Israel issued an evacuation warning to Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital. The Anglican Church-run hospital provides care and protection for hundreds of Palestinians injured and displaced by Israel's offensive in Gaza for nearly two weeks.

“The hospital has received threats from Israel to be evacuated or bombed,” the Palestinian Health Ministry said in a statement, reported Middle East Eye on Wednesday (18/10/2023).

The Palestinian Health Ministry said last week Israel asked all hospitals in northern Gaza and central Gaza City to be vacated. The Palestinian Health Ministry rejected the threat and refused to abandon vulnerable patients.

Gaza-based doctor Sohaib al-Hems said staff at al-Awda Hospital in Jabalia and the General Assistance Hospital in Gaza City refused to leave the hospital. The director of al-Awda hospital said it was impossible to evacuate the sick and wounded.

Even Israel gave the order to empty hospitals in the southern areas of Gaza, or face airstrikes. One of the hospitals that received evacuation orders was Kuwait Special Hospital. But hospital staff refused the order.

Currently, the Indonesian Hospital in Gaza also experiencing a medicine crisis because no aid has entered Gaza, said the Indonesian Medical Emergency Rescue Committee (MER-C). "So far no medical assistance or logistical assistance has been received," said Indonesian MER-C volunteer Fikri Rohul Haq via social media X, Tuesday.

Fikri said humanitarian aid still could not enter Gaza because the border at Rafah was the target of Israeli attacks. Fikri revealed that paramedics at the Indonesian Hospital were experiencing fatigue due to continuously working 24 hours a day because the number of victims continued to overflow. The Indonesian Hospital hopes that medicine and paramedic aid can immediately enter Gaza to help paramedics treat victims of the attack.
