REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SLEMAN -- The head of the Sleman District Tourism Department, Ishadi Zayid, said the number of tourists visiting Sleman has increased significantly. He said that by September, the number of tourists visiting Sleman had reached 60 percent of the target set.

“Compared to last year there is a significant increase, until last September we have reached 60 percent of the total target we set (four million tourists), almost 3.5 million this is already 50 percent more,” said Ishadi. Ishadi said, this dry season also had no impact related to the decrease in the number of tourists in Sleman.

Even revenue from the tourism sector is claimed to have also increased. “Further increasing both income from the tourism sector and from the number of his visits to Sleman this increased significantly,” he said. According to him, this is due to the large number of events held by the Sleman County Government. The nearest agenda, the Sleman Tourism Department will stage the 2023 Sleman Temple Run.

“So with the sports tourism title in Sleman that has been held several times, this year it was amazing there was Merapi Run, there was Volcano Run, yesterday there was Kagama, there was still Tour de Prambanan, now this November 5 there is Sleman Temple Run,”

he said. He hopes that later the sport tourism that exists in Sleman from year to year will increase both the quality of its organization and the quality of its participants. In addition to sport tourism, several tourism agendas until the end of the year in Sleman will also be held.

“Later this year I think there will still be later, as in November we will have Ngayogjazz in Godean District, then later on October 20 we will have Sleman Creative Week, so some events until the end of the year are still there that we will hold to increase the number of visits of our tourists,” he said.
