KLHK generates professional market access player

MFP4 incubates their partners, or known as Market Access Players.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) is hand in hand with Multi-Stakeholders Forestry Programme Stage 4 (MFP4) to strengthen the capacity of forest enterprises with Timber Legality Verification System (SVLK) and Community Based Forest Enterprises (CBFE) using market access player.

 

In the framework. MFP4 incubates their partners, or known as Market Access Players. They help Community-Based Forest Enterprises to grow fasters, reach financial stability, and able to sale market demanding products.

One example of market access player is Nares Essential Oil (Nares), with essential oil as it main products. Essential oils is naturally extracted from parts of plants, such as leaves, flowers, woods, seeds, or even flower pistil.

 

 

“Nares process cloves leaves and lemongrass, which are non-timber forest products (HHBK), into essential oil. Both plants can be cultivated by utilizing forest area. It can be grown between trees,” said Secretary of Directorate General of Sustainable Forest Management, Misran, while visiting essential oil factory in Kendal, Central Java, on Sunday (25/4).

 

What makes Nares different from other products is its business model that involves local farmers. Nares coaches farmers in terms of nursery, planting, post-harvest, to production.

 

“Nares produces essential oil from local farmers’ produce. Nares controls the commodity, which is then produced into high quality essential oils,” Nares founder, Khafidz Nasrullah said.

 

Nares ensures its sustainability by selling essential oils to both national and international market. Its skill and its focus on understanding market makes Nares able to partner with people and create high quality products.

 

Manager Stakeholder Engagement MFP4, Hening Parlan, said MFP4 plans to expand the benefits to people by operating in Musi Rawas South Sumatra through collaboration with KPH Lakitan. Its business is developing ylang-ylang and champaca which is abundant in the area and very high demand.

 

“We hope this activity can generate more income for people in the area and strengthen protection towards forest,” Hening said.

 

Beside Nares, other MAP are IBI, Timurasa, Javara with Sekolah Seniman Pangan, Indobamboo, and SOBI. Each has their own specialties.
