REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Minister Erick Thohir stated that the suicide bombing at the Makassar Cathedral Church could interfere with the vaccination process, especially in the local area.

"Currently it is still a pandemic and the community is in dire straits and this could disrupt the vaccination program," said Erick while reviewing the BUMN Joint Vaccination Center program at the Grand City Mall Complex in Surabaya, East Java, Sunday (28/3).

The community will have a sense of fear if the vaccination program will be disrupted due to this incident. Erick Thohir admitted that he was concerned about the suicide bombing and asked all parties to exercise restraint because Indonesia is still trying to fight the Covid-19 pandemic.

On the other hand, Indonesia is also accelerating the vaccination process to reduce the corona virus pandemic. Various ways have been taken to accelerate the covid-19 vaccination, such as by building vaccination centers.

Erick emphasized the acceleration taking place especially in big cities with very large populations. "We are targeting each vaccination center to be 5,000 people per day," said Erick.

The Covid-19 vaccine stock in Indonesia was safe despite the gradual arrival of the vaccine. Indonesia has been able to secure 426 million doses of vaccine when many countries have difficulty getting vaccines.

"So more than 70 percent of the population can be vaccinated," said Erick.

A sucide bombing exploded at the Church Cathedral Makassar, Sulawesi, Indonesia, on Sunday morning causing several damages, one person dead, and 16 wounded. The police said the suicide bombing involved two persons where on of the bombers died.

The motives and who is responsible for the explosion are still investigated by the police. Recently the police actively search and arrest some people allegedly get involved in terrorism activities in Indonesia.
