REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA -- The University of Amikom Yogyakarta and Silicon Valley Innovation Center (SVIC) signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Monday (21/12). The MoU was signed by the President of SVIC, Dr Andrey Kunov and Amikom Rector, Prof Suyanto.
The signing of the MoU was held in the Cinema Room at Amikom University Yogyakarta. This MoU is also a proof of Amikom's commitment to not only developing quality innovations, but also having the ability to compete at the global level.
President of SVIC, Andrey Kunov said his company is focused on connecting large companies around the world with companies in Silicon Valley. What he offers is a network and an understanding of what people will face in the future.
He emphasized that the main objective of this cooperation is none other than to build potential synergies. Then, discuss all the possibilities that we can make a reality, not only between SVIC and Amikom, but Indonesia as a whole.
"I hope that the talents here and the technology there we can build together that can help both of them," said Andrey today.
Andrey admitted that he just started his business at the age of 22. Even Andrey, who was born in Kazakhstan, admitted that he could only speak English at the age of 21. He believes that his decision to become an entrepreneur was based on ideas.
Therefore, through this collaboration, Andre also invited Amikom students to not be afraid to become entrepreneurs. Andrey also asked them not to be afraid to start becoming entrepreneurs since they were young, which actually started by choosing Amikom.
Andrey gave examples of successful people in today's world such as Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, Jack Ma, Jeff Bezos, and Elon Musk. He said these people have in common such as successful, rich, or famous.
"They are successful not because they are descended from the royal family, get power from the government, or because their family is rich. They are successful individuals through their own hands and minds, they are entrepreneurs," said Andrey.
Since its founding in 2002, SVIC has helped many startups, traditional companies, and large companies that are members of the Fortune 500 so that they can revolutionize the business to be more able to take advantage of the latest technological innovations.
SVIC's business transformation connects the executives of these companies with existing new technologies and anticipates trends that can disrupt the business and turn them into opportunities for growth.
SVIC is where the winning startup The NextDev participates in the Immersion Program in Silicon Valley. The NextDev is the best social impact-oriented early stage digital startup and search platform in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, Amikom has a forum to grow the startup ecosystem, namely an incubator program entitled Amikom Business Park (ABP). The startups fostered by ABP do not have to be Amikom students. The most important thing is that the startup has an attractive product and a qualified team.
