REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Corruption Eradication Commission or KPK praised the success of the 2018 Asian Games event managed by the Indonesian Asian Games 2018 Organizing Committee (Inasgoc). KPK Deputy for Prevention, Pahala Nainggolan, said that it was better to learn from the 2018 Asian Games Committee that bringing sports event could be an industry.
"When facing the 2018 Asian Games, KPK assists Inasgoc to keep Indonesia's big name as a host in the international level. Learning from the Inasgoc, it turns out that sports can be an industry. This should be a good example so that the sports activities in the future can be more independent," said Pahala Nainggolan.
Pahala stated this important message when he attended the inauguration of the 2019-2025 period of Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) at the Borobudur Hotel, Jakarta, Thursday (1/8).
Pahala Nainggolan reminded that KONI under the leadership of Marciano Norman has to avoid a culture of gratification (bribery) in carrying out its sports activities. Moreover, KPK is currently still monitoring KONI after several of KONI's previous administrators has been processed by KPK.
KPK said that KONI is one of the organization that has not had an intense relation with KPK either in a national level (Central KONI) or in a local level (Regional KONI). "But now we will accompany both Central KONI and Regional KONI," said Pahala Nainggolan.
According to him, KONI and other parties must immediately eliminate the culture of bribery and gratuity, especially with regard to grants and other social assistance. For this reason, he asked the parent of the Indonesian sports organization to be more transparent. "The key is all transparent. The budget must also be open," he added.
With this two institutional collaboration, Pahala hoped that in the future KPK will be no longer investigating a bribery case in KONI. KPK, he said, is ready to facilitate the need of KONI both in the regional level and in the national one.
KPK has representatives office in many regions in Indonesia by which they can assist the Regional KONI to eradicate the corruption case. KPK emphasized KONI to stop all bribery case in this year. "This year must be the last sporting case to enter the KPK," Pahala stressed.
KONI under the leadership of Marciano Norman intentionally made a breakthrough by cooperating with KPK for the running of financial accountability in that organization. KONI also involved many parties from former athletes, entrepreneurs, till the difable people to join this organization as members and administrators.
