REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- Health Minister Nila Moeloek reminded travelers to ensure their health before leaving for conducting mudik or annual mass exodus ahead of the Idul Fitri festivity which marks the end of holy month of Ramadhan.

"It is very necessary to conduct a health check before traveling," she said after attending a traffic coordination meeting for the 2019 Eid al-Fitr in Surabaya on Sunday.

Not only travelers, preventive measures for ensuring the good health of drivers were also important so that there would be no obstacles during the trips, she said. "Especially on land and sea, health must be checked for every four hours," Moeloek said.

For this reason, the ministry of health and the local health office said, will provide health service posts at temporary rest areas. This health service utilized health centers and hospitals, especially those on the homecoming routes, she said.

"We also have a public safety center through 119 call center services to be quickly responded to when there are reports. We also provide ambulances, both motorcycles and cars on standby at several health posts," she said.

Meanwhile, to support the homecoming trip, the East Java Provincial Government prepared 26 points of rest areas which are available across various districts / cities.

East Java Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa ensures that in the rest areas, there will also be health service posts that will check the condition of both the drivers and passengers. Not only that, the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) will also prepare 134 health service points and rest areas that will be prepared at terminals, stations, and ports.

"The facilities will also include mosques for the travelers to help them perform prayers. The health team can also provide psycho-social services for children, especially in mosques," he said.
