REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PONTIANAK -- Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Party Board of Patrons, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, asserted that presidential candidate number 02 Prabowo Subianto, is a figure who strongly held the values of Pancasila. Moreover, Prabowo spent more than half his age as a soldier, he said.
Therefore, it was impossible for Prabowo to leave Pancasila, let alone establish a khilafah state. Hashim made the statement to answer slander aimed at Prabowo amid the frenzy of the 2019 presidential election.
Prabowo's proximity to the Islamic groups that supported him as the presidential candidate was deemed as the gate to establishment of the khilafah state.

"Our family is a pluralistic family and holds strong Pancasila which acknowledges of various religions. So it is impossible for Prabowo Subianto to establish a khilafah state," said Hashim who also a younger brother of Prabowo, on Thursday (Feb 21), adding that he is a christian, while Prabowo is a muslim.
Hashim explained that Prabowo's closeness with different components of the nation's was aimed at embracing all ethnic groups, religions, groups and races in an effort to strengthen the values of the Republic of Indonesia and Pancasila. He said that social inequality and injustice in society could be used by certain elements to incite the disintegration of the nation.
Hashim also reiterated that Pancasila was not merely about beliefs as stated in the first principle. There were also four other interrelated precepts that have become the noble ideals of the founding fathers.
Therefore, it was necessary to maintain the Pancasila as the ideology and glue of the nation so that Indonesia would not disintegrate like the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia.
"It is necessary to understand that the current condition of the nation is on the verge of disintegration if economic, political, legal, and social inequalities are widening," said the youngest child of the couple Prof. Dr. Soemitro Djojohadikusumo and Dora Sigar.
