REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Police to take the blockage of Permadi Arya (Abu Janda)'s account by Facebook as an additional information in investigating Saracen case. Abu Janda's account was blocked because its activities were deemed unnatural and related to the spread of hoaxes that have linked to Saracen group.

"We take the Facebook data as a clue and later it will be one of the evidences," said the spokesperson of the National Police, Brigadier General Dedi Prasetyo at the National Police Headquarters, in Jakarta, on Monday (Feb 11).

Dedi said, the police has not been able to ascertain whether the Cyber Crime sub-directorate will immediately process the information along with the Saracen case. However, if the evidence strengthens for further development, Dedi also stated that the police will process it.

"The National Police will carry out the law enforcement process in accordance with the legal facts. Whoever is involved, we act according to the legal facts found by investigators of Cyber crime sub-directorate," said Dedi.

Facebook provided an explanation of the reason it deleted Permadi's page. Quoted from the official Facebook Newsroom page, the reasons that Facebook account, group and Instagram accounts of Arya were deleted because they were involved in coordinated inauthentic behavior on Facebook Indonesia, not because of the contents.

The deleted accounts or groups were also considered to mislead others. Facebook also mentioned, all pages, accounts, and groups were linked to Saracen online syndicates.

"We deleted pages, groups, and accounts based on their actions and activities on Facebook, not because of the content uploaded," said Nathaniel Gleicher, Head of Cybersecurity Policy Facebook, as quoted by Newsroom Facebook.

Gleicher explained, in terms of deleting this account, the people behind the activities were related to each other and used fake accounts to present themselves.

The Saracen case was a case claimed by the police as a syndicate for spreading of hoaxes. The contents of the Saracen contained informations that cornered President Joko Widodo.

However, until now the case is not yet clear. Because the police has not found the suspect nor the mastermind directly involved in the operation of the Saracen group. The people who were arrested by the police in this case were actually sentenced with articles not related to the spread of hoaxes.

Jasriadi, the person who was originally called by the police as Saracen boss, actually was not proven to spread hoaxes at the trial. He was charged with an article about illegal access for accessing other people's information.
