REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Vice presidential candidate number 02 Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno visited musician and politician Ahmad Dhani at Cipinang Correctional Institution, in Jakarta, on Thursday (Jan 31) afternoon. Sandiaga said he came to give support to one of his national campaigners.
"We encourage and motivate as a solidarity to our fighter whom experiences hardship and tribulation," said Sandiaga.
Sandiaga revealed that the verdict drived him to call for a revise to the information and electronic transactions (ITE) Law. He considered the law could become 'pasal karet' (catch-all article).
Hate speech convict Ahmad Dhani.
"There should be no more catch-all articles. The law should not be sharply on one side and blunt to other side. It shouldn't be used selectively and create a sense of injustice," he said.
Sandiaga was accompanied by the Spokesperson of the National Winning Body (BPN) Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak, Ahmad Dhani's wife Mulan Jameela, Dhani's third son Abdul Qodir Jaelani (Dul), and Ahmad Dhani's mother Joyce Theresia Pamela Kohler.
Ahmad Dhani was sentenced to 1.5 years in prison for hate speech.
