REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Political observer Rocky Gerung admitted that he has received the notification from Jakarta Metro Police investigators on his summon over 'Holy Book is a fiction' case. However, he said he could not meet the summon scheduled on Thursday (Jan 31).
"No, I have to attend an event tomorrow," Rocky said when contacted on Wednesday (Jan 30).
Rocky said that he was still in Surabaya, East Java. So, he could not confirm his presence at Jakarta Metro Police headquarters.
According to him, he will ask his lawyer to convey the matter to the investigator. He also will ask the investigators to reschedule the summon.
"Later my lawyer will arrange it," said Rocky.
Nevertheless, Rocky said he will try to fulfill the call and provide clarification on the accusations of blasphemy addressed to him. "If it possible, I will come tomorrow, or the lawyer will arrange it," he reiterated.
When asked for his response regarding allegations of blasphemy against his statement at Indonesia Lawyer's Club TV program, Rocky refused to respond. He stated, he will immediately explain the problem to investigators not to the media.
"Definitely there will be clarification, depends on the police's questions. So, I can't give statement to the media yet," he said.
Previously, the spokesperson of Metro Jaya Regional Police, Commissioner Argo Yuwono confirmed the summon of Rocky Gerung. The Sub Directorate of Criminal Investigation has scheduled the examination at the Jakarta Metro Police headquarters.
"The examination is on 10.00 West Indonesia Standard Time," he said.
