REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Member of the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu), Fritz Edward Siregar said, although the case of Indonesia Barokah (IB) tabloid has been handed over to the police, the Board continued to investigate it. Bawaslu would seek clarification to Deputy Director of Political Communication of the National Campaign Team of Indonesian Work Coalition (TKN KIK), Ipang Wahid as his name was mentioned by the opposition camp as the mastermind behind unverified tabloid.

"We have to check the truth," Fritz said at RRI Building, in Medan Merdeka Barat, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday (Jan 29).

Bawaslu would investigate the case according to their tasks. Bawaslu might find out who was behind the spread of the Indonesia Barokah tabloid.

Fritz reiterated, based on the search of Bawaslu, the information in the Indonesia Barokah tabloid had not violated Article 280 of the Election Law Number 7 Year 2017 regarding derogations and utterances of hatred. Of the two elements, Bawaslu stipulated that there was no element of electoral criminal violations in the case.

Earlier, the National Winning Body (BPN) of Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno suspected that the mastermind behind Indonesia Barokah tabloid was Ipang Wahid. BPN spokesman Andre Rosiade said on Sunday that they are waiting for clarification from Ipang.

Andre said, Ipang's name appeared when his team conducted a digital tracking. The BPN's IT team found a website indonesiabarokah.com that belongs to Ipang which has similar logo with the provocative tabloid. However, Ipang Wahid denied the allegation.

"Regarding Indonesia Barokah, in the name of Allah, I affirm that I'm not the producer of Indonesia Barokah tabloid. I am not involved in any form of the tabloid," he said in his Instagram account.
