REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- State-owned construction firm PT Wijaya Karya (Wika) will focus on intensifying cooperation with 10 countries that have been collaborating with the company. The firm is targeting Timor Leste, Malaysia, the Philippines, Myanmar, Algeria, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, United Arab Emirates, and Taiwan.

At the beginning of 2019, the company had the opportunity to visit several countries to discuss potential cooperation contracts.

"In addition to being in touch with our ambassadors in operational countries, this opportunity is also used as a moment to get input on project performance in 2018," Wika's president director Tumiyana stated in Jakarta on Monday.

Wika also looks out for opportunities in other countries that can be the new targets. The company encourages synergy of SOEs in business development, including investment assessment in several existing countries.

As a state-owned company, according to Tumiyana, Wika has very promising overseas portfolio as can be seen from the successful project projects in the Middle East, Africa, and Asia.

"This has also attracted enthusiasm from other state representatives to explore cooperation with us, proven by the visits from six countries to the Wika Office during 2018," he remarked.

For the record, until the end of 2018, the company succeeded in establishing the achievement of 11 new contracts, with a value of Rp6.56 trillion, or an increase of 135 percent compared to the previous year's achievement. The prominent new contracts last year included mixed used building in Senegal, three thousand lodgments in Algeria, and renovation of Presidential Palace of Niger.
